3M Outstanding Economic Educator Award

Winners of the 3M Outstanding Economic Educator Award are selected based on their long-standing history of involvement in the field of economic education and on their excellence in teaching economics. 3M Awards are presented at the Econ Illinois Economic Education Day Awards Luncheon in late October.

Nominations/entries for the 3M Awards are accepted throughout each academic year. Nominations may be made by a supervisor/administrator, a colleague, a local Center or Office for Economic Education, the Econ Illinois staff, or by the nominee through self-nomination.

Joan Kane

Two winners are selected from among nominees each year.  3M Outstanding Economic Educator award winners receive $500 and a plaque.  Their school receives a $350 grant for economic education professional development and/or materials.  The winners are honored, along with their school administrator, at the annual Economic Education Day Awards Luncheon in October.  The 3M Outstanding Economic Educators and other recognized teachers participate in a unique professional development seminar and networking opportunity designed specifically for this event.  CPDUs are granted for the seminar.

In order to be considered for the Outstanding Economic Educator award, completed entries are due no later than July 15.

The application is updated each year in late winter.
