The Stock Market Game ™ Winners!
Student and teacher winners in the Chicago regions of the fall 2011 session of The Stock Market Game Program were recognized for their outstanding work at a January reception hosted by the Chicago Board Options Exchange. Chicago City Treasurer Stephanie Neely and State Rep. Deborah Mell joined Econ Illinois in honoring the winning teams. Statewide, over 13,000 students participated in the SMG during the fall semester. Read the results » Training Teachers – It’s What We Do That Sets Us Apart!K-12 Teacher Conference on Financial LiteracyThe Fourth Annual K-12 Teaching Economics and Financial Literacy Conference, supported by a grant from Bank of America, welcomed over 66 teachers to the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago on a very nasty winter day. Teachers gathered from across the state to attend engaging curriculum presentations and hear dynamic guest speakers. Teachers attending the full conference went home with complimentary curriculum to enhance their teaching. Super Saturday WorkshopOn December 3, nearly 25 K-12 educators from eight of the eleven counties in the NIU Center for Economic Education service area gathered for Super Saturday - a curriculum-packed workshop sharing three comprehensive curriculum pieces, engaging and hands-on lessons, tips for adapting to a wide range of learning abilities, and the opportunity to search for lessons to complement topics being covered in classrooms. Real world math applications supporting the Common Core Standards were shared.
