National Economics Challenge Results
Iolani School (Honolulu, HI) defeated more than 1,200 teams from across the country to become the national champions of the 2010 National Economics Challenge Finals, held May 24 in New York City.
Illinois Results
Over 170 Illinois students from ten schools tested during the online competition from April 5 - 16. State winners for 2010 are:
- First Place: Hinsdale South HS, Darien. Jeff Waterman, teacher
- Second Place: Homewood-Flossmoor High School, Dave Kush, teacher.
The first place team qualified for, and competed in, the National Semifinals competition on April 26, 2010, in a set of proctored on-site tests at their own high school.
From the National Semifinals competition, the six top scoring teams advanced, and traveled to New York City May 22-24, to compete for the National Championship title.
The semifinals included 32 teams from high schools around the U.S. Hinsdale South High School competed very well, finishing in the middle of the final scoring.

The 2009-2010 Illinois Economics Challenge was online only, due to loss of ISBE funding for Econ Illinois programs. Watch for the return of Economics Challenge State Finals in the future!
