Money Smart SM - April is Money Smart Month in Illinois!
The Illinois Council on Economic Education is proud to be a founding member of the Money SmartSM organization in Chicago. Money Smart Week began as a coordinated effort of over 40 Chicago-area organizations working together to promote personal financial literacy. Money Smart Week made its debut in 2002, offering six days of focused presentations designed to help consumers learn to better manage their personal finances. The effort showcased different programs, helped consumers get information and helped member organizations share expertise.
Today, Money Smart Week is much more broad in scope and continues to expand, creating new partnerships with heightened exposure. The Money Smart Week model has grown beyond Chicago to include Michigan, Indiana and Wisconsin.
Previous years efforts included more than 150 partner organizations and offered close to 300 free seminars and activities throughout the Chicago metropolitan area. The Illinois Council on Economic Education is also a member of the Money Smart Kid Committee.
