Workshops - The Stock Market Game™
Overview
On-site teacher training workshops for first-time or "novice" SMG teachers include interactive curriculum lessons, stock market basics, handouts and hands-on computer lab sessions. Teachers learn how to access the SMG's Teacher Support Center of online curricula, lesson planning, tutorials and assessments; how to access and manipulate the student-based portfolio simulation. Teachers who are highly interested in using the SMG but not certain about enrolling, are also welcome to attend a workshop for informational purposes. Teachers remaining to the end of the workshop will receive CPDU's.
All participants at SMG workshops receive resource materials and information on InvestWrite, the language arts component of the SMG program - an essay competition in which students and teachers can win laptop computers and trips!
Following on-site workshop attendance, teachers will have the opportunity to attend one hour topic-specific Webinars. These Webinars (Web seminars) provide the opportunity for additional teacher collaboration on the topic being covered, as well as provide a brief Q&A session at the end of the meeting. See the extensive list of SMG Webinars. Webinars are not intended to replace half- or full-day on-site workshops.
If a workshop is not offered in your area, or if you have a suggestion for a Webinar topic, contact Marty Paul by e-mail or toll free phone, 877- I DO ECON.
