The program invites firms to put a corporate team together and play the game portion of the SMG program while competing against other corporate teams.
This is a new event that provides a hands-on opportunity to learn about a program that has shown success in students’ testing scores. The competition began in February and will conclude with an after-hours award reception in May.
- Team members manage a simulated investment portfolio
- Teams can be listed with either company name or a unique team name to maintain anonymity
- Game runs 10 to 15 weeks - the length of time of a school grading period
- The top teams receive awards at an award reception
- All stock trades placed during market hours receive real-time pricing
- Investments may include stocks, bonds and mutual funds
- Compare your portfolio values to 4th - 12th grade teams who compete against other schools throughout the state.
Benefits to companies
- Experience: Employees experience first-hand a program that works in the classroom
- Teamwork: Participation provides an opportunity for teamwork
- Volunteer: Companies have the option of sponsoring and/or connecting to a school, with short-term and long-term partnership possibilities
