Tell Another Teacher! - Go to the New York Stock Exchange!

What is Tell Another Teacher?

The Tell Another Teacher program rewards past SMG teachers for sharing the SMG with Tell Another Teacher Postcardteachers who have previously never used the program. Now, veteran* teachers who recruit new* teachers will be eligible for a trip to New York!

On April 1, 2009, a drawing will be held of all eligible teachers who recruited teachers to use the SMG Program. The winning teacher will receive a $750 scholarship to the New York Stock Exchange's "Teachers' Workshop" offered five different weeks throughout the summer months. The winning teacher will be able to select the session that best fits their summer schedule.

For every new SMG teacher recruited, the veteran SMG teacher will receive one entry into a drawing for the Teachers' Workshop. For example, if a veteran SMG teacher recruits three new teachers into the SMG program during the 2008-2009 school year, they would receive three entries into the drawing!

In order to verify the new teacher can be attributed to the recruitment of a veteran SMG teacher, the veteran must email ICEE with the name and school email address of the new teacher.

Once the winning veteran SMG teacher has been selected, the new (eligible) SMG teachers who were recruited by that veteran will each receive Borders gift cards!

ICEE reserves the right to cancel this award if the minimum number of qualifying teachers is not met.

Eligibility

  • * A Veteran SMG Teacher is any teacher who participated in the SMG program with student teams from the 2004-2005 school year to present.
  • * A New SMG Teacher is any teacher who has never used the SMG with student teams or any teacher who did not used the SMG with student teams from the 2004-2005 school to present.  A New SMG Teacher during the Fall 2008 session becomes a Veteran Teacher for Spring 2009 and is then eligible for the Tell Another Teacher reward as a Veteran.
  • Each veteran teacher earns one chance in the NYSE drawing for every one new teacher who participates with at least five qualifying** (see below) student teams.
  • New SMG teachers who were recruited by the NYSE-trip winning teacher, and who registered at least five qualifying** (see below) student teams, will receive a Borders gift card.
  • To be eligible for the NYSE drawing, the veteran teacher must have a minimum of five qualifying** (see below) student teams registered in the 2008-2009 school year, any session or sessions, with 3-5 students on each team.

**Qualifying student teams are those teams of three to five students, who satisfy all the SMG portfolio rules (see "Rules of the Game " in the Teacher Support Center once registered) and who have placed at least one buy order by the deletion date for that game session (see Game Dates at http://illinois.smgww.org.) In other words, student teams that are registered by the teacher but do not subsequently manage a portfolio according to Game rules, do not count toward the prize drawings.
