Illinois Council on Economic Education:
The Stock Market Game Program
Teacher Webinars
Meet from the comfort of your home or school. Avoid travel time and costs; enjoy your favorite after-school snacks! Meetings last one hour, from 3:30 to 4:30 Central Time, and are free!
GoToWebinar ™ (Web seminars) are being offered by the Illinois Council on Economic Education to familiarize teachers with Stock Market Game topics without the disruption or inconvenience of attending an on-site teacher workshop. Instead of being across the table, meeting participants, presenter/s and panelists are spread apart by miles! SMG staff and guest presenters will lead the meetings. The meeting atmosphere will generally be collaborative and hands-on for those who wish to participate, and when the topic lends itself to that type of learning.
Most meetings focus on one facet of the SMG program at a time. The Webinars are not meant to replace an on-site teacher workshop for a first-time SMG teacher, but are instead meant to reinforce or explain topics with which a veteran or new SMG teacher may not be familiar or clear. "Overview" Webinars are intended to help a curious teacher (or first-time SMG teacher) become familiar with the program. However, if an SMG teacher feels the need for the overview-type information, they are encouraged to attend. Veteran teachers may wish to offer ideas and suggestions during any Webinar they attend.
To learn more about a Webinar, click the link below to read the description. A registration button is displayed for those who wish to register for the meeting. Upon registration, the teacher will receive an email with instructions on joining the Webinar through the Internet, and the toll-free number to call for the voice portion.
If you have a need or topic that is not listed below, contact Marty Paul by e-mail or toll free phone, 877- I DO ECON with your idea.
Webinars are not intended as a replacement for on-site teacher workshops. Participants in Webinars will be able to ask questions and share collaboratively. In some topics, participants will have the opportunity to take control of the meeting by showing their own documents or directing the cursor on the screen displayed by the presenter. But first-time SMG teachers are strongly encouraged to attend an on-site teacher workshop hosted by their Center for Economic Education. If none are offered in your area, then the Webinar will be just enough to get you started!
