Winners, Fall 2006
249 teachers from 183 schools entered over 10,000 students in the Fall 2006 session.
Teams' final placing is determined by their equity in portfolio on the final day of the session for which they registered. As well as being ranked by portfolio equity, teams' portfolios are also compared to the S&P 500. The starting value of the S&P 500 may be different for each team, depending on the date the teacher registered the team, and the team account was credited with $100,000 cash. The ending comparison is always the last day of the session (which for this session was December 8.)

Schools in Chicago and the Archdiocese of Chicago Regional Competitions
The top two places in each regional division were recognized on January 17 at a reception at the Chicago Board Options Exchange, 400 South LaSalle Street. Students and their teachers received their SMG awards. Guests included family, school administrators, community friends and legislators. At the conclusion of the evening, the first place teams presented a brief PowerPoint presentation of their SMG session's progress and outcome.
In Chicago, competition is divided into two divisions; the Bulls, for teachers who have used the SMG program in their classroom prior to the current session, and the Bears - for teachers who are using the SMG program for the first time.
