Castle Bank’s strong commitment to community is reflected in their consistent support of Econ Illinois. A donor since 2003, Castle Bank has provided financial support to Econ Illinois for general operating, the American Dream and The Stock Market Game (SMG). Most recently, Castle Bank, through financial contributions, helped to initiate The Stock Market Game – DeKalb County Challenge. The SMG is a statewide competition with regional winners, and DeKalb County schools are currently part of a wider Northern region. With this new initiative, the county-wide competition included only the schools within DeKalb County. The idea was to initiate a community-based competition in order to promote the SMG and bring more excitement to the program, thus helping to increase participation by schools, funders and capture media attention.

Thanks to support from Castle Bank and other new funders, participation increased by 400% and media coverage brought bi-weekly coverage of the program.

Castle Bank ‘acknowledges the importance of innovative technology,’ but they also ‘strive to build relationships with each of our customers’ and to continue to make a commitment to the communities in which they do business. Castle Bank helps maintain that relationship with Econ Illinois thru their financial support as well as their commitment to our Board. For twelve years, Castle Bank President Timothy Struthers has sat on the Econ Illinois Board of Trustees and served as the Treasurer of the Executive Committee. His time and talent has provided beneficial resources to the organization.
