Wells Fargo Advisors
Wells Fargo Advisors is one of the nation's premier financial services firms. Its brokerage business is represented by more than 15,000 financial advisors nationwide.
Wells Fargo Advisors partners with their “customers, communities, and stakeholders for the common good” so that their customers and their communities can “succeed financially.” Through their Hands on Banking program, Wells Fargo Advisors offers “basic money tools, skills, and information” through a program that “teaches people in all stages of life about the basics of responsible money management.” It is through their financial education outreach that Wells Fargo Advisors helps Econ Illinois provide economic education statewide.
Wells Fargo Advisors is the sole supporter of the Illinois Personal Financial Challenge (IPFC). IPFC tests students’ knowledge of consumer concepts and personal finance skills. IPFC is a statewide challenge in which students participate in a preliminary online competition. The top online teams from throughout the state move on to a state championship round held in April at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. The top Illinois state team competes in the final national competition against other state teams. Wells Fargo Advisors has also supported the National Personal Finance Challenge.
Without Wells Fargo Advisors’ generous support of IPFC, the program could not exist. Support of Econ Illinois programs, such as IPFC, provides opportunities for teachers to challenge their students in a unique way and to help get their students excited about learning such an important topic. As one student stated, “This event (IPFC) was an excellent way to learn a lot about personal finance - in a very fun way that didn’t involve sitting in a classroom.” Another student added, “Economics is about more than just money, and knowing about the topic can influence decisions you make.”
Econ Illinois thanks Wells Fargo Advisors for its exemplary support of the mission to provide unparalleled economic education to Illinois students. Through its support of IPFC, Wells Fargo Advisors is helping us to help teachers make a difference in the futures of our students, both in Illinois and throughout the nation, in order to succeed later in life.
